Self-Taught:

  • Aseprite– So that I have something else, if Photoshop wasn’t available for me.
  • PixelArt - Another social media platform I learned from scratch so that I could showcase more of my pixel art on its own platform.
  • Microsoft Paint - I taught myself how to use it, just like Aseprite.
  • GitHub - I learnt it from my team members and by teaching myself during a team project for a Games Anglia college event.

 


Conferences/Seminar Titles

  • EGX London 2023, London, UK, 12 October 2023 - I saw a wide range of game showcases there.
  • BAFTA Young Game Designers, London Science Museum, UK, 27 June 2024 - I entered my arcade game, Tri-Burger. I saw it as a valuable opportunity to showcase my work. It also helped me gain experience in game design competitions.

 

  • Gamebridge, Cambridge, UK, 15 June 2024 - I attended gaming industry talks and learnt useful tips for improving my portfolio and showcasing my work more effectively, which helped me better understand how to present my games professionally and prepare them for industry opportunities in future projects.

 

  • EGX/Comic Con London 2024, London, UK, on 25 October 2024 - I attended this gaming and comic convention to explore a range of indie games and learn more about the industry. I also had the chance to speak with developers, which gave me useful insight into their work, creative process, and the opportunities available in game development. It was a great experience that helped strengthen my understanding of event presentation, networking, and current trends in interactive entertainment.

 

  • Games Anglia – This involved collaborating with Sketchbook Games to create a team game called Mind’s Maze. The project used the themes of OCD and mental health and the combined genres of first-person and puzzle gameplay.
  • Norwich Games Festival, The Forum, 30 May 2025 - I showcased Through the Darkness at the event. The game used accessible gameplay to raise awareness for accessible game design for visually impaired players. It was an amazing opportunity to present my work to others.
  • BAFTA YGD Awards 2025, BAFTA’s headquarters, 195 Piccadilly, London, from 28 to 29 June 2025 - I showcased Through the Darkness and received a BAFTA YGD Games nomination. The event was an incredible opportunity to present my work and gain recognition for future projects and professional development overall.
  • EGX London 2025, London, UK, 12 October 2025 – This event was combined with Comic Con, like the 2024 event. I saw a wide range of AAA and indie games, films, comics, books, and cosplayers, and I also interacted with indie game developers.
  • Norwich Games Festival, The Forum, 28 May 2026 - I went to this event to learn more about game design and to develop my skills by learning from industry professionals. This gave me the chance to network with developers and see how they do their creative process. The event helped me get a better understanding in the games industry and how to improve my own work for future projects. It was also good for building confidence and making industry connections for future work.

Workshop/Courses

  • Computer Games Design and Development Extended Diploma Level 3, West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK, 6th September 2023 – 13th June 2025.
    • This course taught me the main skills needed to make games and introduced me to industry-standard game development, design, and creative software, such as Unreal Engine, Maya, Photoshop, Magicavoxel and other digital creation tools. This course also showed me how to use these tools professionally and develop my game design and development skills, work effectively as part of a team, and gain a better understanding of the games industry. The workshops and industry-focused activities further developed my game development skills. (Below is the first design of the first character I ever created in my course: Bertie).
  • Apex Narrative Talk Event, The Apex, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK, 5th December 2023.
    • This was a course event where I learned about narrative design from a games industry professional. It helped me understand how storytelling is used in game development. The event also featured talks from other professionals from the games and creative industries. 
  • Ipswich University Workshop, Ipswich, Suffolk, UK, 13th November 2024.
    • This workshop expanded my Unreal Engine knowledge and taught me how board games and physical prototypes could be used to help support game design before making the final digital version. I also learned about esports, teamwork in game development, and how gaming competitions could help build experience, as well as gaining collaboration skills, and recognition within the games industry. 
  • Numerous Visits to West Suffolk University Studies, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK.
    • My college course went to several workshops at West Suffolk University. I saw and played student-made games and listened to talks from game professionals. I learned about further study opportunities in games, the value of VR and esports, the importance of teamwork within game development, how gaming experience such as competitions and game jams could strengthen a CV and help with understanding of the games industry. 

Training Program

  • Computer Games Design and Development Extended Diploma Level 3, West Suffolk College, 6th September 2023 – 13th June 2025.
    • Developed skills in game design, game development, 2D art, 3D modelling, animation, coding, project planning, and teamwork.
    • Gained experience using Unreal Engine, Maya, Photoshop, MagicaVoxel, and other digital content creation tools while improving problem-solving, communication, time management, and project development skills.
